The National action plan 2023-2033 adopts a whole-of-nation approach and aims to strengthen government collaboration with civil society organizations, ensuring its effective implementation that will result into meaningful impacts on the lives of women in all their diverse and intersecting identities, especially those in conflict-affected and vulnerable areas, recognizing their diverse and intersecting identities.

The Sunset Review of the NAPWPS 2017–2022 highlighted key achievements, including increased women’s participation in peace processes, particularly in the Bangsamoro. Women played vital roles in the decommissioning process, peace negotiations, and the drafting of the Bangsamoro Organic Law. Their concerns were integrated into major peace agreements, ensuring resources and programs for their welfare. Civil society organizations actively supported WPS initiatives, especially in conflict-affected areas. Security agencies also advanced gender responsiveness through institutionalized policies and mechanisms, reflecting growing recognition of women’s critical role in peacebuilding and sustaining inclusive peace efforts in the country.
