Gender-based violence in general and feminicide in particular are closely linked to the proliferation of weapons, arms trade and degree of militarization within a society. Experts from the South African and Swiss civil society enter into a joint dialogue to shed light on the structural conditions for protection against gender-based violence from the perspective of demilitarization.
In line with the focus on “Partnering for Change” at the Inter-Regional Meeting of the WPS Focial Point Network Meeting in Pretoria in December 2022 and in particular the South African and Swiss co-chairship, the feminist peace organization cfd, PeaceWomen Across the Globa (PWAG) and the Swiss platform for peacebuilding KOFF have organized a small online event series. After our last successful online event on “Memory & Transformation” on March 1, 2023, organized by PeaceWomen Across the Globe, we invite you to engage with us in a dialogue on structural conditions for the effective protection against gender-based violence in this online event organized together with PeaceWomen Across the Globe (PWAG) and the feminist peace organization cfd. The event is the second event taking place in the framework of the project “Alliance for Women, Peace and Security: Channeling Civil Society’s Voices into the WPS Agenda”. It aims at ensuring that the experience and know-how of the civil society are taken into account in the official implementation of the Swiss National Action Plan 1325 (NAP 1325).
With the participation of
Dr Lesley Ann Foster, Executive Director at Masimanyane Women’s Support Centre (South Africa); Naledi Kuali, Legal Manager at POWA – People Opposing Women Abuse (South Africa); and Annemarie Sancar, Program and Network Coordinator at PeaceWomen Across the Globe (Switzerland).
Moderation: The feminist peace organization cfd
We are looking forward to creating this dialogue with you. Please find more information in the event flyer. If you have any questions, please contact Lisa Bissegger.
