Brazil

Brazil’s National Action Plan on Women, Peace and Security results from an Inter-ministerial Working Group, coordinated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who drafted the text with support from civil society and UN Women. Drafted in the context of Brazil’s decisive participation in the United Nations Stabilisation Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH 2004-2017), it focuses on women in peacekeeping. One innovation of the Brazilian NAP is the inclusion of women refugees. The NAP was adopted in 2017 for a two-year term and renewed in 2019 for four additional years.
